35 year old desktop software is now available on the web!

Phew! Photoshop is finally on the web!

Adobe has officially launched Photoshop for the web, making it available to all users with paid plans. This web version, previously in beta for nearly two years, now includes Firefly-powered AI tools like generative fill and generative expand. These tools are designed to simplify tasks such as reproducing an image or selecting an object. Additionally, Photoshop on the web displays the full names of tools instead of tooltips, making it more beginner-friendly.

One notable feature is the ability to easily collaborate on files by sharing links with others, even if they don't have a subscription. The web version offers a majority of the tools available on the desktop version, including a contextual taskbar that suggests next steps and tools based on the user's workflow. However, it is currently missing some features like the patch tool, pen tool, smart object support, and polygonal lasso, but Adobe is working on adding them to Photoshop for the web.

Notably, Adobe does not currently have plans to offer a free or freemium version of Photoshop on the web. This release is a significant step forward for Adobe, bringing its powerful image editing capabilities to the web, with the potential for quicker updates and feature testing.
